Why to convert PDF to JPG?

PDF's are created for documents: text, layout, multiple pages. JPGs are created for pictures. When converting between the two, you will want to do so when:

PDF to JPG Quality – What Really Matters

This is the most elementary step that is overlooked by most converters and it is the most crucial one to get your output to look good.

• Resolution (DPI). A PDF page created at 72 DPI is perfect for viewing on a screen, but a bit blurry when printed and magnified. Convert at 200-300 DPI for anything that you will zoom into, or use later for OCR. The default export setting for our High Resolution mode is 300 DPI.
• Compression. JPG is a "lossy" format, which means that some detail is lost to reduce the file size. This typically won't happen, but if the converter is heavily compressed (the type that promises instant results with no quality setting), the small text may appear smudged. Always select the best quality print option, not the default, if there is fine print, contracts or diagrams in your PDF.
• Color mode. Full RGB colour is essential for scans of photos and coloured slides and will keep them accurate, whereas black and white documents will scan in better quality when converted to grayscale. A converter should automatically retain the original color mode, and not convert everything into one color mode.
• One JPG per page, not per page total. We expect to get five JPG images from one PDF file of five pages. If instead, a tool provides one stitched/cropped image, it is an image-extraction tool, not a page-to-JPG converter (see below).

PDF to JPG vs. “Extract Images from PDF” – What is the difference?
